Fibromyalgia and Chills: Understanding the Connection
Pain is the symptom usually associated with fibromyalgia. According to the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases, however, fibromyalgia patients also may suffer from dizziness, nausea or irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Chills can accompany all of these symptoms.-
Nausea
-
When nauseous, it is common to also experience dizziness, sweats and chills; nausea can have any number of causes, from migraines to dizziness. Around half of fibromyalgia sufferers have migraines, according to Fibromyalgia-Symptoms.com.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome
-
Frequently experienced by fibromyalgia patients, IBS causes bouts of cramping, constipation and diarrhea. The cramping and dehydration associated with IBS can also be accompanied by feelings of weakness and chills.
Prevention/Solution
-
A healthy diet can reduce and help prevent nausea associated with fibromyalgia. Those with IBS should pay particular attention to what they eat.
Diet
-
Alcohol and caffeine in excess can cause dehydration and worsen nausea. Eating whole grains and starches while avoiding foods known to exacerbate the problem, can help alleviate symptoms.
Warning
-
Never assume that every symptom is related to fibromyalgia. Always consult a doctor with a new symptom and before beginning any treatment program.
