People who live in or travel to areas where typhoid fever is common are at the highest risk of getting the disease. These areas include South Asia, Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America. People who work in close contact with people who are infected with typhoid fever are also at increased risk. This includes healthcare workers, caregivers, and family members.
