Cold Sores and Embryo Implantation: What You Need to Know
Fever blisters, also known as cold sores, are caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV). Although HSV can cause a variety of symptoms, including fever, headache, and fatigue, there is no evidence to suggest that it can affect embryo implantation.
While HSV can be transmitted from a pregnant woman to her fetus, this usually only occurs during the third trimester. However, if a woman has an active HSV infection at the time of delivery, there is a risk that the virus can be transmitted to the newborn during birth.
If you are pregnant and have fever blisters, it is important to see a doctor to discuss the risks and options for treatment.
