Norforms & Menstruation: Effectiveness & Alternatives
It is generally not recommended to use Norforms while on your period. Norforms are a brand of spermicidal foam, which is a type of birth control that works by blocking sperm from entering the uterus. Spermicidal foam is not effective during menstruation because the blood flow can wash away the foam and reduce its effectiveness. Additionally, the vagina is more acidic during menstruation, which can make spermicides less effective.
If you are looking for a birth control method to use during your period, there are other options available, such as condoms, oral contraceptive pills, or an intrauterine device (IUD). You can talk to your healthcare provider about which birth control method is right for you.
