Understanding the Timeline of HIV/AIDS Progression
HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, does not attack the human body immediately after infection. The time it takes for HIV to progress to AIDS varies from person to person and can range from a few years to several decades. On average, it can take around 10 years for an untreated HIV infection to progress to AIDS.
It's important to note that the progression of HIV to AIDS can be slowed down or even prevented with early diagnosis and effective treatment. Antiretroviral therapy (ART) can suppress the virus and prevent it from multiplying, allowing people with HIV to live long, healthy lives.
