Understanding HIV/AIDS: Treatments and Management
There is currently no cure for AIDS, but there are effective treatments that can control the virus and prevent its progression to AIDS. These treatments are known as antiretroviral therapy (ART). ART involves taking a combination of drugs that work to suppress the replication of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. By reducing the amount of virus in the body, ART can help to improve immune function and prevent the development of opportunistic infections and other complications of AIDS.
ART is not a cure for AIDS, but it can help people with HIV to live longer, healthier lives. With early diagnosis and effective treatment, people with HIV can now expect to live near-normal lifespans.
