AIDS is not spread by casual contact, such as shaking hands or hugging.It is spread by having unprotected sex with an infected person, by sharing needles or syringes with an infected person, or by receiving blood from an infected person.
It can also be spread from mother to child during pregnancy, childbirth or breastfeeding.
