HIV Transmission Through Blood: Risks & Prevention
HIV can be transmitted through blood-to-blood contact. This can occur in a number of ways, including:
* Sharing needles or other drug paraphernalia with someone who is HIV-positive
* Receiving a blood transfusion with HIV-infected blood
* Being stuck with a needle or other sharp object that has come into contact with HIV-infected blood
* Coming into contact with open wounds or sores on someone who is HIV-positive
