Piggyback IV Placement: Higher or Lower?

The piggyback IV should be hung higher than the primary infusion bag. This is because gravity will cause the fluid in the piggyback IV to flow into the primary infusion bag. If the piggyback IV is hung lower than the primary infusion bag, the fluid will flow in the opposite direction and could cause the primary infusion bag to burst.
