Herpes in Men: Symptoms & Timeline After Exposure
Symptoms of herpes in men typically appear within 2 to 20 days of exposure to the virus. However, it is important to note that some people may not experience any symptoms at all or may only have mild symptoms that go unnoticed. The initial outbreak of symptoms is often the most severe and can include:
- Small, painful blisters or ulcers on the penis, scrotum, or anus.
- Fever.
- Headache.
- Muscle aches.
- Swollen lymph nodes.
After the initial outbreak, symptoms may recur occasionally, but they are usually less severe and shorter in duration. Some men may only experience one or two outbreaks in their lifetime, while others may have more frequent recurrences.
