Inferior Vena Cava (IVC): Function, Location & Importance
The inferior vena cava (IVC) is the vein that collects most of the venous blood from below the diaphragm. It is formed by the junction of the right and left common iliac veins and ascends along the right side of the spine. The IVC receives blood from the abdominal organs, the lower limbs, and the pelvis. It empties into the right atrium of the heart.Hemorrhage - Related Articles
