TEE Cardiac Shunt Procedure: A Step-by-Step Guide
To perform a Tee Cardiac Shunt:
1. Access the venous system with your TEE probe using the mid esophageal view. (Use deep sedation)
2. Advance to 1 cm above diaphragm
3. Withdraw probe slightly and rotate counterclockwise until left brachial vein crosses the descending aorta. This is also known as the 7 o'clock view. There you will see the 4 chambers clearly
4. Place the TEE through the interatrial septum to the left atrium to see PFO
