CPR Indications: Recognizing Life-Threatening Symptoms
Cardiac arrest:
- Loss of consciousness
- No breathing
- No pulse
Breathing problems:
- Severe shortness of breath
- Gasping
- Wheezing
- Loss of coordination
- Bluish skin, nails, or lips
Chest pain:
- Severe chest pain or pressure
- Discomfort in the chest, arms, neck, shoulder, or jaw
- Squeezing, burning, or tightness sensation in the chest
- Pain that worsens with exertion or stress
Other symptoms:
- Fast or slow heart rate
- Dizziness or fainting
- Seizures
- Vomiting
