The prevalence of coronary artery disease, diabetes, hypertension, and obesity, all of which are closely related to the development of heart failure, increased dramatically within the United States between 1999 and 2013. This sharp increase is reflected in the dramatic increase in heart failure hospitalizations and death rates throughout the same duration.
