What Happens to Hair After Death? Understanding Postmortem Growth
When someone passes away, the hair on their body does not continue to grow. As the cells in the body die, so do the cells that produce hair. As a result, the hair on a person's body will typically remain the same length after death.
However, since dying takes time hair still growth as long as there are still living cell.
In some cases, the hair on a deceased person's head may appear to have grown after death. This is due to a phenomenon called "postmortem hair growth." This occurs when the body is exposed to high levels of humidity, which can cause the hair to absorb moisture and swell, making it appear longer. Postmortem hair growth is not true growth, however, and the hair will eventually stop growing once the body has completely decomposed.
