Islamic Perspective on Intercourse During Menstruation: Understanding Religious Guidelines
According to Islam, it is recommended to avoid sexual intercourse during menstruation. This is because menstrual blood is considered impure, and it is seen as a time for women to rest and recover. Sex during menstruation is also considered to be harmful to women's health, as the cervix is open during this time and more susceptible to infection.
Having intercourse during menstruation is prohibited according to verse 222 of Surah al-Baqarah:
"They ask you about menstruation. Say: It is an impurity, so keep away from women during menstruation, and do not go near them until they are clean. Then, when they have purified themselves, come to them as Allah has commanded you. Indeed, Allah loves those who repent and loves those who purify themselves."
