First Period Anxiety: A Guide for Young Girls
How to cope with being scared of your first period:
- Relax. It's normal to feel scared or nervous about your first period. Remember that it's a natural process that all women go through.
- Talk to someone. If you're feeling scared, talk to a parent, teacher, or trusted adult. They can provide support and answer any questions you may have.
- Learn about your body. The more you know about your body, the less scary your first period will be. Read books or articles about menstruation, or talk to your doctor or a nurse.
- Be prepared. Stock up on period supplies, such as pads or tampons, and keep them handy in case you get your period unexpectedly.
- Don't be afraid to ask for help. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to ask your doctor, a nurse, or a trusted adult for help.
