Understanding Head Lice: Causes, Transmission, and Prevention
Head lice are tiny, wingless insects that feed on human blood. They live on the scalp and lay their eggs (nits) there.
People can get head lice by coming into contact with someone who already has them. This can happen through head-to-head contact, or by sharing combs, brushes, hats, or other personal items.
Head lice cannot fly or jump, so the best way to reduce your risk of catching them is to avoid close contact with people who have lice.
