What is the genotypes of a blood type A?
Blood type A can have two possible genotypes:
- AA: This genotype means that the individual has two copies of the A allele (homozygous dominant). People with the AA genotype will always have blood type A.
- Ai: This genotype means that the individual has one copy of the A allele and one copy of the i allele (heterozygous). People with the Ai genotype will also have blood type A. This is because the A allele is dominant over the i allele, so the A allele will be expressed even if the individual also has an i allele.
