How to Care for Eyelid Styes
Styes can occur just about anywhere on one's eye. A Stye occurs when the secretory glands of the eyelid becomes blocked, causing oil to back up and form a lump. Bacteria infects the blocked glad and causes a red lump to develop with inflammation and pain. Styes can also look like small pimples, as they occasionally become filled with pus. A stye goes away when the blockage disappears and the pus is drained. They usually go away on their own in five to seven days.
Instructions
Keep your eyes closed and apply a warm compress five times a day for 15 minutes each to help the stye drain.
Scrub the stye, if located on the outside of the eyelid, and surrounding area with a gentle soap or baby shampoo. Keep your eyes closed during this process.
Avoid squeezing the stye; it is not a pimple. Sqeezing may result in a serious infection.
Avoid using eye make-up, lotions and contact lenses which may increase irritation and spread the infection.
