Understanding Peripheral Vision Loss: Causes & Retinitis Pigmentosa
The most common vision problem that causes this is Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP). RP is a group of genetic disorders that affect the retina, the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye.
Retinitis Pigmentosa first affects the peripheral (side) vision and gradually progresses toward the center. As the disease progresses, people may develop night blindness and tunnel vision. Eventually, they may lose all of their sight.
