Babies are not born with their adult eyes.The human eye grows and changes throughout childhood and adolescence. The eyeball reaches its full size by about age 12, but the eye continues to develop until about age 20. During this time, the cornea and lens become thicker, the pupil gets smaller, and the retina becomes more sensitive to light.
