How to Clean Prescription Glasses
Cleaning prescription glasses is a careful procedure. You want them clean but don't rub too hard or you'll scratch them. Prescription glasses cost a lot of money to replace if damaged. There is a safe way to clean prescription glasses that can protect your investment.Things You'll Need
- Eyeglass cleaner
- Lens cloth
Instructions
Obtain a bottle of lens cleaner and a lens cloth from your eyeglass provider. If this is not possible, pick up a bottle of lens cleaner and a lens cloth at a pharmacy or drug store. Don't use anything that's not designed to clean eyeglasses. Don't use any rough material such as rags or paper towels, as this could scratch the lenses.
Put a few drops of lens cleaner on each side of each of your lenses. Gently wipe with the lens cloth in a circular motion. Rub with a little more pressure to get the cleaner into the lens until the lens is free of streaks. Repeat this step with the other lens.
Look at the lenses of your glasses to make sure they are streak-free and not blurry. The streaks will dry onto your glasses and will be harder to get off once dry.
Set the glasses down in a safe place, such as on top of your dresser or table. Wait for the lens cleaner to dry.
Repeat Steps 2 through 4 if your prescription glasses are still dirty or have streaks.
