Hard Contact Lens Cleaning: A Comprehensive Guide
Contact lenses are thin, finely crafted plastic discs designed to fit over the cornea of the eye. Hard contacts are made with a mix of polymethylmethacrylate and other plastics to increase oxygen permeability. To keep your eyes free from debris and infection, keep your hard contacts clean.Things You'll Need
- Hard contact lens solution
- Saline solution
- Lens case
Instructions
Wash your hands. Remove any particles and debris from your hands. Particles can scratch the lens or get placed back into your eye.
Remove a contact lens and place it in the center of your palm. Create a habit of always removing the same lens (right or left) first. This will help you to not get the contacts mixed up when cleaning and storing them.
Add 2 to 4 drops of cleaning solution to the surface of the lens.
Use your index finger from the other hand and gently rub the cleaning solution into the lens for about 30 seconds.
Rinse the lens thoroughly with saline solution.
Store the lens in a lens case filled with cleaning solution.
Repeat the process for your other contact lens.
