Restasis: A Comprehensive Guide to Treatment & Usage
Restatis is used to treat chronic dry eye. It can also treat an eye condition called keratoconjunctivitis sicca. The medication works by increasing the amount of tears you make. It is available by prescription only. Restatis is covered by many health insurance prescription plans in the United States.
Instructions
Wash your hands. If you wear contacts, take them out. Turn the Restasis vial upside down several times to mix the medication. The eye drops should appear milky white. Open the vial. Avoid touching the end of the vial with your fingers.
Tilt your head back and look upward. Pull your bottom eyelid away from your eye. Apply one drop of Restasis into your eye. Do not let the vial touch your eye directly.
Look downward. Keep your eye closed for one to two minutes. Do not rub your eye. Try not to blink.
Repeat Steps 2 and 3 with your other eye. Wait at least 15 minutes before putting in contacts or other eye drops.
Discard any remaining Restasis that is in the vial. Do not store the open vial to use later.
