Instructions

  1. Deactivate Pepper Spray

    • 1

Resist the urge to rub your eyes because this will reactivate the Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) spray and intensify the burning sensation.

    • 2

Fill a spray bottle with whole milk and spray it directly into your eyes. As an alternative, soak a clean towel in milk and squeeze it into your eyes or lay it over them.

    • 3

Mix 1 part dishwashing detergent with 4 parts cold water to create a gallon-sized solution to deactivate the oil. Submerge your face into the solution and open your eyes. Do this 15 seconds at a time, for anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour.

Contact-lens wearers should remove lenses immediately and throw them away.

Ensure you do not have an allergic reaction. The active ingredient in pepper spray is capsaicin, which can be found in plants like chili peppers, cayenne and jalapenos.
