How to Test Your Eyes for Colorblindness
If you are colorblind, you might not be able to truly see green grass, blue sky or red blood. If you never find out that you are colorblind, you will live life in confusion as you fail to pick up visual cues that others can see. Colorblindness means you have trouble distinguishing between red, green, blue or a mix of colors, according to WebMD. Colorblindness can make it more difficult to read or learn, and you might be limited in your career choices. Testing yourself will take you closer to finding possible solutions to the problem.
Instructions
Go to an Internet site that administers the Ishihara Plates tests. Try sites such as Color Vision Testing, Archimedes-Lab or Cool Optical Illusions.
Scroll down the page to view the test or click on the link that says, "Click Here to Start Test."
Look at the cluster of colored circles and try to see if you can pick out the number hidden in the circles.
Continue to look at more clusters of colored circles to find what's hidden. Some circles will hide images rather than numbers. See how fast you can see the image within the circles, if at all.
Call your vision doctor if you have problems seeing the hidden numbers or images. He might give you another test that requires you to arrange colored chips in order according to how similar the colors are, according to WebMD. People who are colorblind cannot arrange the chips correctly.
