Heart Sounds: Understanding Normal & Abnormal Heartbeat Noises
The medical term for the sound heard during a heartbeat is "heart sounds". Heart sounds are produced by the closure of the heart valves during the cardiac cycle. The two main heart sounds are the first heart sound (S1) and the second heart sound (S2). S1 is produced by the closure of the mitral and tricuspid valves, while S2 is produced by the closure of the aortic and pulmonary valves.Ears & Hearing - Related Articles
