Human Hearing Range: Understanding Sound Intensity (dB)
The human ear is sensitive to a wide range of sound intensities, typically from 0 dB (the threshold of hearing) up to 120 dB (the threshold of pain). However, the most comfortable range for the human ear is between 40 and 60 dB. Sounds below 40 dB are considered to be quiet, while sounds above 60 dB are considered to be loud. Prolonged exposure to sounds above 85 dB can cause hearing damage.Ears & Hearing - Related Articles
