Understanding Your Throat: Key Structures to Inspect

The three things you expect to find if you inspect a throat are:

1. The epiglottis: a cartilaginous flap that covers the opening of the trachea during swallowing.

2. The tonsils: two oval-shaped masses of lymphoid tissue located at the back of the throat, one on each side.

3. The uvula: a small, fleshy projection that hangs from the back of the roof of the mouth.
