Relief for Ear Itch: Causes, Remedies & When to See a Doctor
Having an itch in your ear doesn't sound like much of a problem, but it can sure be an annoyance if you are the one suffering from it. An ear itch occurs when the mast cells inside of the ear become aggravated. Chemicals are then released and the itching shortly follows. You don't have to keep suffering. You can get rid of that itch.Things You'll Need
- Hydrogen peroxide
- Ear dropper
- Towel
- Steroidal cream
- Tree tea oil
Instructions
Tilt your head to the side and use an ear dropper to drip five drops of hydrogen peroxide in to the ear.
Keep your head tilted for at least three minutes. You may hear some fizzing, and that is perfectly normal. A pillow can keep your head propped if your neck begins to get tired of holding your head up in a tilted position.
Hold a towel under your ear and tilt you head back to an upright position. The hydrogen peroxide will have cleaned your ear out and alleviated any itch that was present inside of your ear.
Pick up a steroidal cream at your local pharmacy and rub it on any itch that is outside of the ear canal. This will reduce any inflammation and itchiness associated with the aggravated mast cells.
Use tree tea oil on the outside of your ear canal if you are not fond of using a steroidal cream. Just rub two drops of the oil over the itch.
