How to Attach BTE Hearing Aids
BTE hearing aids are widely used by those with hearing loss, especially children. Because they sit behind the ear, they offer extra hold that other styles, such as in-the-ear and in-the-canal, do not. Affixing BTE hearing aids is relatively simple, as they sit on the ear the same way a pair of glasses might.Things You'll Need
- Hearing aid
- Ear mold
- Tone hook
- Mirror
Instructions
Stand in front of a mirror. Be sure you have a good angle so that your ear is clearly visible.
Slip the hearing aid behind the ear, much as you would slip a pair of glasses over your ear. The aid should sit comfortably behind and on top of the outer ear.
Insert the ear mold into the ear. Be sure to line up the curves of the mold with the curves of the inside of the ear.
Check to see that the tone hook is connected securely to the mold and the hearing aid. This will ensure that the ear mold will not fall out and that the aid won't fall off.
