Large Intestine Length: Understanding Its Size and Function

The large intestine is approximately 1.5 meters (5 feet) long in adults. It begins at the ileocecal valve, where it connects to the small intestine, and ends at the rectum. The large intestine is responsible for absorbing water and electrolytes from the digested food material and forming stool, which is eventually eliminated from the body.
