ADA and Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD): Rights & Accommodations for RNs
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) does not specifically address Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD). However, the ADA does require employers to make reasonable accommodations for employees with disabilities. In the case of CAPD, this could include providing written instructions or allowing employees to use assistive technology. If an employee with CAPD is unable to perform the essential functions of their job with reasonable accommodations, the employer may be required to reassign the employee to a different position.
