Safe & Responsible Hearing Aid Battery Recycling: A Guide
Due to the amounts of zinc in hearing aid batteries, it is advised that users recycle their old batteries rather than throwing them away. In some instances, discarding hearing aid batteries in the trash is seen as improper disposal of hazardous waste. Fortunately, finding a location where you can properly dispose of your batteries is easy.
Instructions
Go to Earth911.com, a website providing local recycling resources and information.
Type "batteries" in in the blank space under "Find recycling centers for."
Type your zip code or address including the city and state in the adjacent space. Click the "Search" button.
View the list of locations that appear. Notice that not every location recycles all types of batteries. You will want to look for a location that lists "Other batteries."
Use the contact information to the right of the location to call the business or site. Inquire specifically whether they recycle hearing aid batteries.
