Aphasia: Understanding the Causes and Effects of Speech Difficulty
The inability to speak is medically referred to as Aphasia.
While people with aphasia can still understand what others are saying, they may have difficulty speaking, writing, or comprehending written or spoken language. It can result from damage to areas of the brain responsible for language processing, typically caused by a stroke, traumatic brain injury, or a progressive neurological condition such as dementia or a brain tumor.
