QuickVue Influenza Test Kit - At-Home Flu Test Instructions

The QuickVue Influenza Test is a kit that comes with everything you need to test for influenza, the virus that causes the flu. The test can be performed at home and delivers results in as little as ten minutes. The QuickVue Influenza Test can detect both type A and B influenza. There is also a QuickVue test that can distinguish between the two types.

  Insert the soft-foam swab approximately one inch into your nostril. Stop inserting the swab when you feel resistance. The swab can be stored for up to eight hours in a dry container.

  Add the extraction solution to the extraction tube.

  Insert the swab into the tube and allow it to sit in the solution for one minute.

  Insert the test strip into the extraction tube. It takes up to ten minutes for results to appear. If only a blue line appears on the strip, the test is negative. If a pink line appears under the blue line, the test is positive. For the A + B test, if a pink line appears above the blue line, the test is positive for type A. If a pink line appears under the blue line, the test is positive for type B.
