What is epidydimal cyst?
An epididymal cyst is a fluid-filled sac that develops in the epididymis, the coiled tube that connects the testes to the vas deferens. Epididymal cysts are usually benign and do not cause any symptoms. However, in some cases, they can cause pain, swelling, or infertility.
Epididymal cysts are thought to be caused by a blockage in the epididymis. This can occur as a result of infection, inflammation, or trauma. Epididymal cysts are also more common in men who have had a vasectomy.
Treatment for epididymal cysts is usually not necessary. However, if a cyst is causing pain or swelling, it may be necessary to drain it or remove it surgically.
Epididymal cysts are a relatively common condition. It is estimated that up to 1% of men will develop an epididymal cyst at some point in their lives.
