Understanding the Two Key Components of the Cardiovascular System
The 2 systems that make up cardiovascular system are the:
1. The Heart: The heart is a muscular organ that acts as the pump of the cardiovascular system. It contracts and relaxes to push blood throughout the body.
2. Blood Vessels: Blood vessels are channels or tubes through which blood is transported. There are 3 types of blood vessels: arteries, capillaries, and veins. Arteries carry blood away from the heart to the rest of the body, capillaries are small vessels where the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide occurs between the blood and tissues and veins carry deoxygenated blood back to the heart.
