Cardiac Output: Understanding Your Heart's Performance

The amount of blood pumped by the heart per minute is called cardiac output. Cardiac output is calculated by multiplying the stroke volume (the amount of blood pumped out of the heart per beat) by the heart rate (the number of beats per minute).
