Silvadene is used to treat and prevent infections caused by bacteria or fungus. Slivadene is often applied to burns. This medication is very useful, but can also cause some side effects, which are described below.-

The most common side effect of Silvadene is a burning feeling, itching or pain at the site where this topical cream was applied.
Serious Side Effects

Serious side effects of Silvadene include blistering or peeling of the skin, bloody or cloudy urine, sores, ulcers, diarrhea, swollen glands, weakness, bleeding, sore throat, trouble breathing, severe itching of burnt areas, jaundice, rapid heartbeat, blackening of skin, sensitivity of skin to sun, red sores on the skin with a purple center, bluish fingernails or lips, chills, fever and cough. All of these side effects should be brought to a doctor's attention.
Allergic Reactions

Allergies to oral diabetes medication, sulfa medicines and water pills increase the likelihood that a patient will be allergic to Silvadene. Side effects that may indicate an allergic reaction include a rash or hives, trouble breathing and swelling of the throat, mouth or lips. These side effects should be brought to a medical professional's attention immediately.
Pregnancy

Pregnant and breastfeeding women should use caution when using Silvadene. Silvadene can cause liver problems in infants.
Rare Side Effects

Rare, but less serious, side effects of Silvadene include a rash, itchiness, or brownish-gray skin discoloration.
