But sometimes you need to use the medication within the capsule to treat an external problem, such as a burn or a scar. - Scissors or a sharp paring knife
- Alcohol wipes
- Cutting board or large plate
Instructions
Using a Knife
Rub an alcohol wipe over the cutting board to sterilize it.
Rub an alcohol wipe over the blade of the knife to sterilize it. Set the knife down on the cutting board.
Pick up one gel cap and place it on the cutting board. Grab one end of the capsule between your index finger and thumb and hold tightly.
Pick up the knife with your other hand and gently saw open the gel cap.
Using Scissors
Rub an alcohol wipe over the blades of the scissors to make them sterile.
Pick up one gel cap. Using your thumb and index finger, hold the gel cap four inches above the plate.
Using the other hand, cut the gel cap open with the scissors.
