Recognizing a Broken Foot: Symptoms and Signs
Signs and symptoms of a broken bone (fracture) in your foot may include:- Pain. You will probably have varying degrees of pain. Your foot may hurt most when you put pressure on it or move it in a certain way.
- Swelling. The area around your broken bone will likely swell, sometimes quickly.
- Bruising. Your skin may bruise and change color.
- Bleeding. If your skin is broken near the broken bone, you may see bleeding.
- Bone Deformity. If the bone ends aren’t aligned, the foot may appear deformed.
- Limited Ability To Move Your Foot. You might not be able to move or support weight on the foot that has the broken bone.
