Tetanus Exposure: Immediate First Aid and Medical Care
Seek medical attention immediately. A tetanus shot is the best way to prevent tetanus, but if you are not up to date on your shots, you will need to receive one as soon as possible.

Monitor the wound for signs of infection. These include redness, swelling, pain, pus, or fever. If you notice any of these symptoms, see your doctor immediately.
Get a tetanus shot as soon as possible. This is the best way to prevent tetanus, even if you have already been exposed to the bacteria.
