How to Treat Neurosyphilis
There several stages of syphilis including primary syphilis, secondary syphilis, tertiary syphilis, and neurosyphilis. Syphilis is an infectious disease that is usually transmitted sexually. Treatment for syphilis depends on the stage of the disease. During the first two stages, primary and secondary, antibiotics are used and blood tests are completed to determine the infection has cleared. If the disease is left untreated then the final stage, tertiary syphilis, sets in. During this last stage neurosyphilis makes itself known. Neurosyphilis is an infection in the brain or spinal cord. To treat neurosyphilis you need to do the following actions.
Instructions
Administer antibiotics/injections on a daily basis at the same time everyday to ensure medications are constantly in the body.
Do not engage in sexual activities until you have been given a clean bill of health.
Inform your past sexual partners of your condition so they can get help. Syphilis is a highly infectious disease especially during the first two stages. It is harder to treat once it is past the second stage.
Schedule follow up appointments with your doctor according to his/her treatment plan. Most doctors request follow-up blood tests at 3, 6, 12, and 24 months.
