Understanding the Brain Regions Affected by Epilepsy
Epilepsy can occur in any part of the brain. However, the most common areas of the brain affected by epilepsy are:
* The temporal lobes: These are located on the sides of the brain and are responsible for memory, language, and hearing.
* The frontal lobes: These are located at the front of the brain and are responsible for thinking, planning, and problem-solving.
* The parietal lobes: These are located at the top of the brain and are responsible for processing sensory information such as touch, taste, and smell.
* The occipital lobes: These are located at the back of the brain and are responsible for vision.
Epilepsy can also occur in the cerebellum, which is located at the back of the brain and is responsible for coordination and balance.
