Why Does My Calf Muscle Always Hurt?

Calf muscles are one of the most worked muscles in the entire body. A lot of weight is put on them every time you walk. Calf muscle problems can range from serious medical conditions to slight muscle spasms.
  1. Nerves

    • There are many nerve disorders than can cause calf pain; the main disorders are peripheral neurotherapy, multiple sclerosis and regular neuropathy.

    Sleep

    • Restless leg syndrome, which occurs when you sleep, is the main cause for calf muscle pain in sleep disorders.

    Exercise

    • If you exercise too intensely, you can tear the muscle fibers in your calves, which results in days, if not weeks, of painful soreness.

    Poor Diet

    • If your muscles do not have enough minerals or electrolytes, they are more prone to muscle cramps and spasms, which can be very painful.

    Poor Circulation

    • If you are not getting enough blood into your calves, it can be because of many different blood disorders such as deep vein thrombosis, arterial inefficiency or venous inefficiency.
