Index vs. Ring Finger Length: What Does It Reveal About You?
The size of the ring and index fingers has been the basis for more than one study. Scientists have tried to figure out if the size relationship of these two fingers heralds a deeper issue in the human body.-
Testosterone Indicator
-
In his book "Digital Ratios: A Pointer to Fertility, Behavior and Health," John Manning explored sexuality as it relates to index and ring finger size. He found that testosterone exposure in utero can be determined in the length of the index finger. Shorter fingers mean more testosterone than in a normal birth.
In Women
-
Manning reasons that a heterosexual woman will have an index finger that is the same size as the ring finger. A lesbian̵7;s index finger is much shorter than the ring finger.
In Men
-
Men with same size ring and index digits may be more in touch with their feminine side because women have same ring and index fingers. These men may also be at a higher risk of depression than other men.
Power Sign
-
According to a study by the Univeristy of Cambridge, England, men with an index finger that is shorter than their ring finger tended to more competitive, successful and confident, and have more testosterone pumping through their bodies. Therefore, a man with these two digits of equal in size could be perceived as average, even nonathletic, and aggressive.
Disease Free
-
Illnesses such as osteoarthritis, heart disease and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder are seen less in people with the same-size index and ring fingers.
