Cybex Isokinetic Testing: Accurate Strength & Range of Motion Assessment
Isokinetic testing uses specific equipment to measure accurately joint range of motion and the strength of surrounding muscles. With Cybex isokinetic testing, you can test leg, elbow, shoulder and wrist strength, while accounting for range of motion and gravity.-
Isokinetic Testing
-
Isokinetic is so named because movement happens at a constant pace. The equipment keeps your speed the same but changes the resistance for testing or strength building. The testing monitors progress of muscle building, especially when rehabilitating from an injury.
Cybex

The Cybex dynamometer was first developed and sold by a company called Lumex Inc., and used for strengthening muscles through full range of motion in physical therapy settings. The Cybex II was introduced in the 1980s, and this included a more sophisticated system that could test range of motion, strength, and torque, and print out data analysis. Cybex equipment today is sold by Cybex International Incorporated.

Using Cybex equipment, a person performs several tests at a variety of speeds with different resistance. The end result is known relationships among speed, strength and power for opposing muscle groups. In other words, how strong is your thigh (quadriceps) in comparison to the back of your leg (hamstrings). Specific exercise is prescribed based on the analysis.
