I have broken my hand and tendons are now too long. Can shrink to a shorter length allow proper movement again of the fingers?
It is not possible for tendons that have become too long to shrink back to a shorter length and allow for proper movement of the fingers. Tendons are composed of dense connective tissue and do not have the ability to regenerate or contract in such a way. Once a tendon has been stretched beyond its normal length, it is unable to return to its original form.
In cases of tendon injuries, surgical repair or reconstruction may be necessary to restore proper function and movement. This may involve grafting healthy tendon tissue from another part of the body or using artificial materials to reinforce or replace the damaged tendon.
